Stan, Although I would go with E-Sata, the specs are already being discussed against/for USB-3.

If you have USB-3 ports and E-Sata on the laptops, the cost against speed from these articles above is interesting. Then again, like USB-1 native machines drag down any added on (or native) USB-2 ports, will it be the same scenario for USB-2 and USB-3? I have yet to find an answer for the latter. No doubt someone is already using one or the other, but the E-Sata (if you already have a socket) should in theory be determined by the drive speed itself. Let us know what the outcome is, I have one USB-3/E-Sata port on my editing laptop and would like to know what the speeds are like for E-Sata as I can only find a USB-3 external drive so far.
