As someone who's done a lot of recent HDV editing on a relatively old 
computer, if you're going with 32-bit Premiere Pro, make it CS3. I 
tried CS4 and it was unusable for HDV footage. It would stutter in 
playback and make life miserable. It was a big step backward.

CS3, on the other hand, works smoothly with HDV footage. It has its 
own bugs, but at least you can work around it.

I'm looking forward to installing CS5.5 on a new computer Monday and 
starting to work with AVCHD footage.
