Found my problem.
For many clips I found in the Effects Control panel a second set of
motion controls
(Corner Pin and Transform). Don't ask me how they got there, I can not
recall having done that,
and I do not normally drink when editing:-) .
Deleted all that and reset the motion with the default motion settings
and everything is either
rock steady or smooth where motion has been applied.
So, no problem with Premiere, stills and Ken Burns.
