DRM was too steep for us too.  We are using AutoVault to automate all our
tape vaulting needs including copypool tapes and database backups.  It also
generates recovery scripts that will reload the *SM server if it crashes.
It has been working flawlessly since we installed it last year.  They also
just added vaulting support for backupset tapes which we are looking into.
