Robert,

Do you have compatible storage devices on TSM server and the fileserver
(i.e. DLT library on TSM server and DLT drive on the file server, or DDS-3
on TSM and DDS-4 on FS) ?
If yes you can create a backupset and perform LAN-free restore. This might
be even faster than to overload your TR LAN.
This can also be done if you can temporarily attach an external drive to
the fileserver you want to restore

Subject: BIG RESTORE

Hi folks.

I've the following problem:

I start a restore for a Fileserver with about 20 GB data to restore.

We have a 16 MB TokenRing, so we make maybe 1 GB per hour. So the restore
would take 20 Hours.

Now my problem is: how can I automatically restart the restore when the
session ends because of
time-outs or other reasons?

The TSM-Client is a NT-Fileserver, the TSM-Server is OS/390.

with kind regards
