When/If TSM implements 3rd party copy, they will be capable of Serverless backup because the metadata will be routed via the SAN to the server opposed to being transferred over the LAN. LAN-Free, on the other hand, employs the StorageAgent, which sends the metadata over the LAN while physical data is sent over the SAN to the designated tape/target device.
