Hi Wanda,

I thought about this way too, but my DB is about 5,5 GB and there is no
enough space on disks for fileclass backup, except of possibility to create
fileclass with little volume size (e.g. 100MB) and delete them just during
backup to save disk space. A little "brutal action" to satisfy that simple
request :-)))).

Thanks to all.
Tom

Tom,

I don't know of a "proper" way to do this, maybe someone else does.

Here's a "sneaky" way I have used to do it:

* Create a devclass of type=FILE, pointing to a directory on disk.
* Run a NEW DB snapshot using the new devclass..
* Now your tape DBSNAPSHOT isn't the "last" one, you should be able to
remove it with DELETE VOLHIST to get your tape back.
* Use OS commands to delete the disk file containing the last
DBSNAPSHOT to get your disk space back.

There will still be an entry in your VOLHIST for that last DBSNAPSHOT.
Don't know how to clean that up, but it's harmless.

Subject: Delete DB snapshot volume

Hi all,

Some time ago a had performed some DB snapshot to tape due to test device
class definition. Now I want use this temporary tape but I can't because it
is tracked in DB ans cannot be deleted as last DB snapshot series volume. Is
any way to clear this reference adnd reuse this tape if it is 6 months old
and normal full backups are performed on daily basis?

Thanks
Tom
