it ain t that simple, I hope to have checked trivial things
before having posted to the forum:

DISKPOOL 60 GB, 60%full, Nextpool is TAPEPOOL
TAPEPOOL is in class DLTCLASS, accessR/W, maxscratch=2, 2 volumes defined,
both status empty
device class DLTCLASS defined on device type DLT/DRIVE, library DLTLIB,
Mountlimit 2
library DLTLIB manual
drives: DLTLIB DLT1 GENERICTAPE Online=Yes status unknown
drives: DLTLIB DLT2 GENERICTAPE OnLine=Yes status unknown

To hazard an answer:

It sounds like you're running backups to a disk pool called DISKPOOL that
has no volumes assigned to it; also, you have no NEXTSTGPOOL designated for
DISKPOOL.

Run Q STG. Does your DISKPOOL stgpool have a NEXTSTGPOOL designated? What is
the size of DISKPOOL?
