if anyone can offer any advice or assistance iin the following regard.
we are running tsm on os/390
server level 4.2.2.5
db size approx = 75 gig
recently we have had a problem where the pages of sessions accumulate till the max
amount of allowable sessions is reached. ie 500
the sessions that are queueing are mostly not backup/archive sessions but for the most
part just polling sessions that usually happen so fast and completely in the
background that you do not even see them. now however they sit endlessly in a start
state or and end state resulting in a slow response for the entire server. backup and
restore times are greatly increased and simple queries (eg q stg or q filespace of a
node) take really really long before giving any output. they just seem to hang for a
few minutes at a time.
we have already tried to shuffle around db disk volumes to dif spindles because of
high hit rates and reversed a buffer pool size change that we did a couple of weeks
back to no avail.
any ideas???????
