Yes, this was done many times by many people on this list and I have done it too. I would guess you are trying to mimic the behavior of so called "media server" found in some competitive products. But the eagle cannot crush trees like the elephant and the elephant cannot fly. Use right approach for the right product. With TSM you can: - share a library (usually is not made for standalone drives) between TSM servers - use server-to-server virtual volumes I would recommend to read "TSM Concepts" redbook (SG24-4877) and pay attention to chapter "virtual volumes". Looking through TSM Administrator's Guide and chapter "Introducing Storage Devices" you can read the section "Multiple Tivoli Storage Manager Servers Sharing Libraries". Many people on this list can answer specific questions on implementation of both methods. If you ask generic questions then you can easily get Mark's favorite answer - "hire a TSM consultant".

have you done something like this before ? I'd like to ask if it's
possible to use drives on other TSM server (for example TSM2), that is
used only to manage this single manual drive. Main tsm server (for
example TSM1) should use this drive for backups.
Is it possible to define this drive directly on TSM1 ? (of course i have
to define it on TSM2 first) or i have to define pool on TSM2 and share
this pool in some way ?
