You can create a copy group with zero retention. Include the folders that you
don't want backed up in the new group, and run an incremental to rebind them.
Then, exclude the folders from backup, they will expire at the next incremental.
(Only files still active in the folders will be rebound, so you may still have
some inactive data that will follow your default retention)

I know you can exclude certain folders from being backed up, but
is it possible to remove certain folders from a clients filespace after
they have been backed up

Otherwise I would have to delete the entire filespace, set up my
excludes and rebackup the servers drive that related to the filespace
