I have run into the same issue here. My team is responsible for over 400 servers, so having an ASR disk for each server is a little much. What we have done is using RDP on our HP servers we have an image build that will build a plain server in 20 minutes. The server has w2k3, sp1, and the TSM client 5.3.2 already installed. Then it is just a matter of restoring the systemroot, systemstate, and systemservices. After that is done we reboot and the server should be back. I am looking at a product called Cristie which they say does a bare metal restore.

What we do is create a slipstream cd with windows 2003, sp1 and the nic card drivers on it.(of course you may be using 2003 G2) We use a useful utility called nlite. It's gui based and is freeware. Another way to get around this problem is to install the nic card drivers from the dos window that you get at the select option 1 for network or 2 for local backupset. The dos window is minimized when you get to this window.
