AHA! Your original message didn't say anything about drive types/3592 or
I would have recommended checking your drivers.

Speaking of 3592 drives, there have been some critical issues with the
firmware of 3592 drives. IBM put out a updated firmware (D3I1_A27 for E05
models) on 12/13/2006 with a document that says "Some of these changes
help to further reduce the possibility of loss, or harm to,
data........Accordingly, IBM strongly recommends you download the new
firmware versions....".

Gang,

Thanks for all the input.

The errors we were getting tended to be all over the map, at times
making us think we didn't have the scratch/private stuff setup
correctly. Turned out to be, though, the device driver for the 3592.
The most recent driver available at the ftp site fixed the problem and
we are able to move data to the tape drives.

Thanks again.

Kelly

Kelly -

The Admin Guide manual shows how to share a 3494 both dynamically and
statically. Have you set up according to those instructions and
verified that configuration? If so, what specific error messages are
you getting?
