Hi Ian, The TSM client that's having issues was sending it's data to a disk pool and not tape. The NIC's are set to 2GB on both. The TSM server was doing approximately 6 NAS NDMP backups, 2 Admin Tape to Tape backup stgpool copies and I believe there were approximately 6 TSM clients transferring data at the same time. The environment was actually rather quiet and not too much was going on. I was also wondering where/how I would get the logs to show mediaw/idlew?
Just let me know. And thanks! ******************************** Joni Moyer Highmark Storage Systems, Storage Mngt Analyst III Phone Number: (717)302-9966 Fax: (717) 302-9826 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ******************************** "Ian-IT Smith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: "ADSM: Dist Stor Manager" <[email protected]> 08/08/2007 03:31 AM Please respond to "ADSM: Dist Stor Manager" <[email protected]> To [email protected] cc Subject Re: Help! Trying to figure out what caused slow performance The network transfer rate is very slow, are the NICs set to full duplex and speed fixed or are they autonegotiating with the switch? What else is passing through the TSM Server NICs at the time? Are the backups going to disk or tape? What are those resourses doing at the time? Also, can you get the line out of the accounting log to show mediaw/idlew etc? This will break down the session duration into the waits... Trying to figure out what caused slow performance Hello everyone, I am getting hammered by my Oracle DBA's on slow performance at random times on the TSM server. I have to admit that transferring 461 MB should not take 36 minutes. I have looked in the activity log to see what was running at that point in time and yes it was busy, but no more than usual and immediately after this session ended this client no longer had slow performance/issues transferring their data. My TSM server is on AIX 5.3 and is at the 5.3.4.2 release. The client listed below is a Solaris 5.8 server which has a TSM 5.2.2.0 client. Any suggestions/help in determining what the cause of this might be would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
