---- Good day all Please note that the hardware was replaced and the problem resolved. It seems as though the barcode reader was coursing the problem. Thanks for the responds. Your posting doesn't say anything about the all-important driver you are using with the library and drives. Make sure you are adhering to the information provided on the Web page "Supported devices for AIX, HP, SUN and Windows", http://www-306.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/IBM_TSM_Support ed_Devices_for_AIXHPSUNWIN.html as linked from the TSM Support Page http://www-306.ibm.com/software/sysmgmt/products/support/IBMTivoliStorag eManager.html Assure that you are employing a 32- or 64-bit driver which matches your operating system, according to the IBM information. And always test that the library and drive are functional at the operating system level before trying to use with TSM: if it doesn't work at the OS level, it sure isn't going to work in TSM. When using the TSM device driver, you can test with the 'lbtest' command (see Technote 1049959); and there is the 'ntutil' command. Richard Sims
