Well, mainframe does not support Fiber Channel and has its own FICON and ESCON protocols for Library and Storage connectivity. How about using SAN directors? Can a Unix client send backup data directly to a mainframe-attached tape library using protocol conversion devices? ( LAN-free backup is intended and TSM server is on z/OS)
