Happiness is the flip-side of unhappiness. Seeing one means seing the

Does the happiness of giving depend on the existence of unhappiness
(in self or others) for its enjoyment?

Advaita-wise, the ever-abiding sky remains untouched by the passing
clouds of happiness and unhappiness, which are in essence nothing but
ephemeral forms appearing in and of that non-attached sky itself.

This is not to say that, possessed by 'I am' in this embodied state of
consciousness, one should not act spontaneously and naturally in
helping 'others' as the need arises...... but to depend for one's
happiness on the continued existence of those 'less fortunate'........
could be said to be somewhat 'demonaic'!

Sri Ramakrishna and Mother Theresa defined the path of helping others
as service to the divine Self/God within all...... and its joy
expressed as gratitude for the opportunity to be of such service.

To give the starving, food. does this create happiness.

This question is for those actions of both the giving and
receiving. ???

Who can deny the greedy when they say they are happy ???

This hinges on that sacred law “ignorance is bliss” but who can say
they are pure ignorance ???

Are we the corruption of bliss, happiness and/or ignorance.

Does mother nature contemplate happiness ??

This thread begs the question, "What is happiness?"

- other than the opposite of unhappiness - it's ever-present polarity.

That should bring the conversation straight back to advaita!

Wanting or not wanting are both states of unhappiness, imo.

The only safe place is the borderline between the two..... neither
wanting nor not wanting what is....

Consciousness + objects is 'I am'.

Without preferences, there is no game for 'I am' to play.

When 'I am not', whether anything/everything is or isn't = happiness.

Yes ……… this is it.

Each one of us, each morning awakens into a new conscious awareness. Given a simple tool box of abilities, understandings and memory. We
embark on a new day.

In this we sub-consciously decide who and what this day means to us.
Only in this sense are we the creator of the world we experience.

This is the power of “I am” and I am going to be in this day,
anything I dam well choose.

My advice, Choose happiness it feels like a lot more fun and tends to
attract happiness, ware-as if one chooses misery the same rule
applies. Misery attracts misery.

It’s all an illusion in real terms, but real terms wont assis t you in
having a good day.

The greatest lesson of them all. The skill and craft of having a
good day.

Being whole, Advaita.

Sure, why not? Awakening into a dream that never was.

I am saying I don't know what I am doing here.

I am saying living a long life and having many experiences arises as
empowering for most people and non-people :-)

It appears to be right and has value so I must be a person
experiencing survival?

I have no proof that I did not just appear POOF with all my apparent
fixed ways of being and beleiefs and apparent circumstances.

Perhaps there is something to work out here?

Sausages?

Who knows which way is up?

Happiness is less stressful on the physical being than anger or gloominess.

Apparently happy people live longer, make more money and so on.

If the goal of life is death and returning to the source though?

Who is winning the race?

Is it worth it ? some people clearly want to be miserable.
They have a divine right to misery and rightly so. As a human being I know of my gloomy default settings of misery and constantly work hard to balance my views to enjoy this day. I have seen the darkness
of a sceptical attitude and hope to find a better way.

Is it just me or is happiness a serious business worth working hard
for ????
