I would say addiction(or aware of) sensations is not the ego.
The prevailing sense of an investment with the noticing ...
...making the ongoing assembly line of sensations..... into "my"
experience(s)....
.... is the sense of the entity/ego/self/mind.
Concurrent with the sense of the investment is the sense that the
experience of the sensation(s) means something.
Where such a prevailing sense of an investment is absent........there is
still the noticing of sensations...
.. so long the apparatus is "alive".
Since "alive" is also a held meaning...
..it can be said that in such a absence there is still the wisp of the
lingering sense of entity.
