Advaita fails to answer any one of those questions! It just gives an
alternative point of view about consciousness that is no more likely than
believing I exist within the body (I am in here looking out vs. I am all
that is)

There are plenty of people who suggest they don't need to know who are
miserably unhappy and seeking salvation through drugs, sex, theft and
violence. I respectfully suggest they are barely in the game and certainly
not at the top of it.

Unless it can be asserted the universe exists for no other reason than it
exists.

All apparent events of this now are the results of all past events.

Is that the purpose of Advaita?

Okay

Here is how I see it.

The purpose of Advaita is to invite the listener or seeker to look beyond
the sense of I, an egocentric world view and to recognise that their
physical form is simply a part of what is happening on a universal scale.

It can then be seen that what is considered an individual life force is
present in all things.

It can also be seen that the "I" is a pseudo subjective view point taken on
by the observer to create relationships between what is happening out there
in order to aid survival.

Ultimately in switching from one viewpoint to another a whole load of
meaning about an "I" and a whole load of self importance can drop away in
the process.

The Advaita position seems to be one of responsibility for one's environment
such that the environment is the "one" and all aspects of it will enhance
the well being of it.

In a sense Advaita expands and softens the ego.

But this doesn't really get at the purpose.

Is it to enhance experience?

Is it to bring about peace?

The purpose of a toothbrush is to clean teeth.

The purpose of a motor car is transportation.

The purpose of a cherry is?

To grow cherry trees?

Is it simply a choice?

And if so, then who is choosing?

And why?

(playing with words)

Your turn
