There's a term for it, but I can't remember it, and thus my attempts to get
MSDN to cough up the info are fruitless.  I wish MSDN had a natural-language
interface so I could ask: "what is it called when you want to write an
application that starts up when a file is added to a directory?" and give me
a meaningful answer.  Then again, if it could do that, we wouldn't need
discuss.develop.com, would we?

So, can someone tell me what this is called, and tell me where to look to
find out how to do it?
