Hi Andy, This is a list for people who find it interesting writing applications using the .NET framework. -----Original Message----- From: Andy Smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sat, 31 Dec 2005 15:45:03 To:[email protected] Subject: [ADVANCED-DOTNET] Performance Hit Being On A Domain?
Hi - I'm wondering what the performance hit is to an XP workstation that's running on a domain vs. peer to peer. I've got a couple of audio workstations that are very performace-sensitive, and I've kept them off the domain for that reason. I'm now considering putting them on a domain, but I'm wondering what exactly is the performace penalty - if any - of putting a machine on a domain? They are XP Pro workstations. Is there anything going on in the background during normal operation when on a domain, any extra services or background processing that would have any material effect on performance? These machines are doing some pretty demanding multitrack studio recording, so I'm very anal about keeping all unnecessary processes off them. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
