ottomh: [1]client side group policy processing...default refresh interval is every 15 minutes (i think) [2]do you use SMS in your domain? depending on update frequency, inventory tool scheduling, package sizes, you may have performancde problems. [3]domain wide anti-virus with updates pushed froma a domain server. i "think "symantec corporate client checks for new virus definitions at the corporate server every hour by default [4]you may end up being part of a network election to figure out whcih computer is the master browser for the domain. there is a registry key to disable this (in the netbiod over tcp/ip helper i think)
i'm sure there are more, but it alldepends on how your domain is setup and how much control the Admins feel they need to have. However most of the above can be reduced to aminimum with careful configuration of the server side components of the applications mentioned. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Andy Smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Hi - > I'm wondering what the performance hit is to an XP workstation that's > running on a domain vs. peer to peer.
