Not much has changed in 2005. You can probably get a lot of information on how to build and consume Web Services from MSDN's WSE section - http://msdn.microsoft.com/webservices/webservices/building/wse/default.aspx.
I would also recommend that you checkout WSCF from thinkTecture (http://www.thinktecture.com/Resources/Software/WSContractFirst/default.html ) - "contract first" being, in my opinion, the only way to build Web Services. There are plenty of implementation guides on how to consume Web Services on websites such as ours and StrikeIron.
