I brought this topic up last summer and it became such an ugly mess that
Gnat wound up bouncing me for a bit so I cringe a bit when I see the
"C-word" mentioned. I had noticed that RedHat was offering certification
of some sort for Linux and thought it might be a good thing in some form
for Perl.

However, every other profession seems to have some way of judging the
competence and skills of its ranks. It would seem to be something Perl
should revisit.
