One reason why a client of mine is abandoning Perl, besides its lack
of buzzword compliance (they think customers & investors would be
happier if we use Java instead), is that it's hard to find good job
candidates for Perl. Everyone's learning Java in college and then
going out to find a job. The only Perl candidates they can find are
experienced (and thus expensive) contractors and consultants, when
they're looking for 22-year-old recent college grads (who don't cost
as much). All the candidates have JAVA featured prominently on their
resumes, and not Perl.
