My current client is winding down my contract, and at the same time
offering me a full-time job - where I would learn Java and help train
customers on their product.

It's tempting - but not because I want to learn Java. Because Perl
seems to be dead.

I've looked at all the job listings on DICE etc. and the only ones
that mention Perl are either system administration jobs, or jobs where
it's listed after things like Java and C++.

I know C++ - but I haven't used it in the 7 years since college.
Ditto C. Java, I played with briefly a couple years ago and didn't
like it, but I understand they've ironed out some of the kinks.

What to do? Abandon Perl and take the job offer? Or am I just not
looking in the right place?
