Surprisingly, that is exactly where my mind is at. :-) I definitely 
think that perl and php should be leveraged *together* and not either/or.

THEIR argument against this is "having separate code-bases" requiring 
differing levels of maintenance. Other than the fact that they have ONE 
php programmer who knows and loves PHP, and two perl-knowledgable admins 
who know and love Perl...

I make a strong point of writing maintainable and well-commented code. 
There isn't one of you that wouldn't be able to tweak what I've written.

Oh I definitely agree here. I'm interested in learning php, I just don't 
have an available programming environment for php on the Macintosh, 
since I'm not running a machine currently capable of OS X, and don't 
have a spare linux box around to play with (although I'm trying to 
remedy that). That and I need to spend some of my sparse and hard-earned 
cash on a few books, or scour the local libraries for them.
