There is also a good "C vs. Perl" description in the
myths list about performance. Comes down to the fact
that truly excellent, hand-crafted C will beat Perl
most fo the time. Question then becomes how much of
this C has ever been written? Most of the C gets too
complicated to finish on time so you take whatever
shortcuts you can to get it done. Net result is that
the C is rarely Fine Craftsmanship; it's good, working
code. That means it back in the territory where Perl
performs as well or better for most jobs.
