I'd love to respond, and set the record straight, but I'll have to have a bit more context. If someone can send me a couple of the previous mails/posts in this thread, I'll do my best to set the record straight. Morgan Stanley funded Damian last year, but we did not attempt to "buy him outright". We did help support him by hiring hom to teach his excellent courses here for a week last year, and again this year, too. We had some issues getting our beuarocracy to shell out cash to a non-profit that supports a technical cause, and not a politically safe social of cultural one (we have some really strict guidelines on charitable contributions). In the end, we ended up just paying Damian directly, rather than going through YAS, but that was *our* decision not theirs. I am pushing for funds again this year, and will try to get a direct payment to YAS, but once again, I first have to change the way we think about non-profits.
