Yes, I want the community to be very clear that Morgan Stanley have
been a first-rate sponsor on my work for YAS/Perl Foundation. Indeed, it
is fair to say that, together with Merijn Broeren, Phil has been
instrumental in making my work possible.

Through various mechanisms (donations, travel support, accommodation,
training opportunities, providing a public speaking venue) Morgan
Stanley have already been far-and-away the biggest single contributor to
my work. In relation to their size, other organizations -- Blackstar,
Stonehenge, System Administrators Guild, DynDNS -- may have given a
higher relative amount (for which I'm also intensely grateful!), but in
absolute terms *no-one* has done more to make The Conway Channel a
reality than Morgan.

Given that Perl is very widely used on Wall Street, by all the financial
giants, it speaks volumes that only one of them so far is
community-minded enough to give back to Perl in this way.

And in other ways, too. For example, Phil's willingness to give a
(superb) keynote at last year's OSCon describing how Perl and Open
Source helps Morgan Stanley stay in business. That was a *huge* boost to
our community's profile and legitimacy.

I'm not on any of these lists, so I don't know the tenor of the
discussion that's gone before, but *my* message is simple: Morgan
Stanley are most definitely the good guys here.
