've spent some time over the last few years teaching entry-level
programmers coming to my former employer. I was surprised at how many
CS and SE majors came in with fewer languages than I knew when I
finished my EE degree.
Many of the ones I've worked with know fewer than I did
with an IE degree... and I didn't even have to take
programming!
Prof's have always been willing to tell students that
they are imparting the One True Answer (tm). Then it
was structured programming, now it's OO. Doesn't seem
all that much has changed.
