I'm trying to decipher how exactly this is used without building my
own headers and checking the http response header myself. For
instance:

theReportDefinitionValidationService =
adWordsUser.getValidationService(AdWordsService.V201101.REPORT_DEFINITION_SERVICE);

ReportDefinition report =
theReportDefinitionValidationService.mutate(additionOfDefinition);

ok, now does that call return a null ReportDefinition object if the
call was successful(assumption based on the return empty soap response
protocol from v2009 blog post)? And what if it weren't successful, how
do i get the error response from
theReportDefinitionValidationService?
