Parthenon, a full-size replica, painted, festooned with acroteria and all the good stuff (--the only short coming is that it's not made of marble--) smack dab in the middle of town! Originally erected for the U.S. centennary, celebrating Nashville's image as "the Athens of the South."


There are numerous detailed, scale-model reconstructions of architectural monuments, such as of the Acropolis or Harlicarnassus, that attempt to replicate the originals in color and ornamental finish. See, e.g.,
