Most of what I know about universities nowadays comes from William -- and
recently he shared his dismay over their transformation into art-as-business.

Regarding "Palin Miller" -- and how I wish we still had Kirby here to take
that bait! -- but I will only say that if she had not been chosen to run for
national office, Palin may very have seemed to resemble Erin Brockovitch more
than Phyllis Schafly.

                        **************

Here's where Miller always goes over the edge. He has a built-in negativity
toward universities and he hits on it every chance he has, despite being
completely without evidence and logic. What does he know about universities
and their academic structures or the people who study and teach in them?
NOTHING. His negativity must stem from some sense of slight, some feeling of
rejection, some unresolved anger. Only he knows the source. It's very tiring
when he ruins any chance at useful dialogue by jumping to his preconceived
conclusions at every chance. Besides, who is the "we" he refers to? What
academic credentials and administrative experience does he have? Shall we
address him as Palin Miller?
