Cheerskep asks: "Has anything at all above prompted the thought, however evanescent, "Hm. I never thought of that -- and it's sort of worth thinking about"
... and stepping back a few posts, I found where Cheerskep wrote this: "I have to admit that in all my years on the forum, to this day the liveliest single thread was Bruce Attah's posting of the nine characteristics that, he said, were what made a work BE art " And I agree -- even if I thought Attah's exposition had some serious problems. Unlike everyone else on the list -- Attach actually had a philosophy of art which he took seriously enough to present and defend. He was not just listing his own personal preference for certain characteristics he wanted in works he would CALL art -- but he seemed to have a "universal intent resting on his commitment to the community to which he belongs" (to borrow a phrase from Polyani) _____________________________________________________________ Bills adding up?
