The old Aesthetics listserv cranked out the following announcement -- and I'm
wondering anyone here knows anything about the "minimalist conception of
aesthetic experience"

What kind of things would that exclude that others (Gary Iseminger, Robert
Stecker, and Richard Shusterman) would like to include.

> ABSTRACT
> I begin with a discussion of the relation between the notions of
> aesthetic
> attitude and aesthetic experience, and then turn to an examination
> of a
> current debate between opposing partisans of a minimalist conception
> of
> aesthetic experience, most notably Noel Carroll, and partisans of
> conceptions of aesthetic experience of a less minimalist character,
> notably
> Gary Iseminger, Robert Stecker, and Richard Shusterman. As my title
> indicates, I side squarely with the latter camp, and endeavor to
> demonstrate
> the inadequacy of a minimalist conception and to highlight the
> attractiveness of a non-minimalist conception. Toward the end of the
> paper I
> consider how aesthetic experience thus conceived stands to the related
> phenomena of sexual experience, drug experience, and mystical
> experience.
