It's still the best way to do panoramas or pictures with very high objects.
The stitich programs are great for figuring out whether doing the thing is
worth it but somehow they always seem to be somewhat unthought when it comes
down
to making the picture. Pure geometry won't do it,it always has to be twitched
to make the thing work,or it looks dead.
