How such experts should be selected?

Historically -- at least in Chicago -- the jury for national shows once
consisted of those artists whose work had been selected for national shows in
previous years. This of course, would tend to entrench older styles rather
than introduce new ones -- and the artists were eventually replaced by museum
professionals.

Today, of course, it is galleries rather than artists who are juried into the
major national shows - so expertise concerns marketability - while museum
exhibits are juried by professional curators who are qualified by academic and
institutional achievement. (ie., first they must have a degree, then they must
rise within the ranks of an institution)

But what do you think, Boris?

How do you think that competent people with discerning taste and knowledge can
best be identified ?

>I meant a majority within experts, who are few.
