Saul, can you name any culture which hasn't expressed "Power, faith, the
desire for universals,  the role that myth plays in our lives, and an
egocentric desire to believe itself to be universal" ?

(Even among the thousands of "primitive" cultures that have been encountered,
the word for human is usually the same as the word used to identify its own
people)

I suppose ours has had much more opportunity for "aesthetically appropriating
the artifacts of the belief systems of others" -- but isn't the history of
every civilization, Euro and non, an ongoing record of that?
