This was in response to why we might respond to roman portraiture busts, tankas, etc. And I personally know of no primitive cultures other than our own - as for the isn't the history of every civilization the story of aesthetically appropriating the artifacts of the belief systems of others - I would say no other civilizations have appropriated the belief systems of other civilizations -ie. Incorporated them - but Western civilization seems to be the only one that takes the religious artifacts and practices of others and turns them into art
