I feel frustration in your statement, which shows limitation in your
philosophical stand in this instance.
You pay too much attention to shoes. It is necessary tool to get to the truth.
We can't get to the abstraction by strait diving. The process goes always via
represented stuff of sensed world.
Before I read Heidegger's essay I only new the name an his status in the
field of philosophy. It is brilliance of his elaboration that took my special
attention.
Nobody is outside the art world. Amount of info does not make us inside, it
is how we select what is really important info and what is mediocre, makes us
experts.
Regarding kissing pinkie ring, I am not familiar with the process, but
I think it is something to do with a toxic shame that represents unhealthy
self acceptance because of imperfection in all of us.
I am past that. No idols, only ability to appreciate the beauty in all forms,
including thought.

Heidegger attacks the truth that the recognition of beauty is independent of
any specific (and possibly contradictory)
"unconcealed truths" with which it may be associated.
He is completely outside the artworld that elevated Van Gogh above thousands
of other painters who depicted "peasant clothing" - and until proven
otherwise, he appears to have been outside any community
of visual discernment at all -- collecting nothing -- preserving nothing --
practicing nothing -- and utterly oblivious to the major art controversy of
his time ("decadent art" versus social idealism)
He knew as much about visual beauty as I know about Chinese opera.
I suppose that his iconic status is such that you and William have to kneel
and kiss his pinky ring -- but his philosophy is firmly opposed to the life
of
forms in art.
