For you to believe that no general agreement is commonly present
among members of the list to some degree on the meaning of the
term "sign" is an unwarranted and unjustified doubt on your part.
No other member in the recent past to me recollection has
mentioned any confusion or concern on this issue. It is admitted
however that there may likely be some disagreement over the best
global philosophy to use in support of any sign define or sign
theory. To prove this claim of mine, members may wish to post a
short message on what they think the meaning of the word or term
"sign" might be. The list debate and archive should both benefit.
My own attempt to define a "sign" will still follow later in due
course. From mighty mark to super sign it seems that semiotics is
here to stay after all. Perhaps it is true that Peirce will
actually rise again.
