The intriguing issue of whether there can be signs that are subjectively or objectively global, at least within the earthly realm, is a topic still debated among semioticians and semiologists and linguists. My thought of a global sign not nurtured for example might be say the drawn mark in art for a person, or the pointing finger in motion for a direction, or the human face in distortion for a shock. -Frances
