There are a great many to chose from, though some are very, very long. In a
haphazardly chronological list:

Schelling: Historico-critical introduction to the philosophy of Mytthology
Cassirer: Language and Myth
__ :Philosophy of Symbolic forms vol 1 & 2 (especially vol 2)
Eliade: Myth and Reality
Blumenberg: Work on Myth
Bottici: A Philosophy of Political Myth

I have only had the chance to browse Botticis book, but it looks promising.
Blumenberg is excellent though very long. Cassirer is also very interesting
but again long. Eliade is Romanian.

If any anyone's interest is piqued by one of these books, I am sure we could
work something out; I might be able to determine which chapters in
Blumenberg's opus are absolutely necessary to read, and which can be safely
skipped, but I cannot promise anything. I advise against starting with
Schelling.
