As I have always understood it. the word aesthetics is the study of how beauty relates to ugly,and the relationship between the two extremes, where our individual and collective preferences exist and for how long. The rest is just ever lasting change in taste. Science, it is not! I always know what an aestheticIdeal is to me at the time when I feel it, yet knowing that it may not be there later. A science .it is not.
