That would not have worked on our trailer, as the slots were dimensioned for finished lumber.

I just bough 7 planks of 2” x 12” x 18’ apitong.  Rough sawn so they really are 2” thick.
And I bough the fancy oil.  It was $8.70 per square foot.
Supposed to be much stronger than oak.

Funny, locally on craigslist someone is selling old boxcar oak flooring for 5 times this amount.

Everyone recommends Apitong.  Treated lumber is not recommended, and I don't remember why.  I ended up just using redwood or something and then oiling it.  They say diesel fuel works really well too.

Does look nice.  I am loading bulldozers, mini excavators, directional drills etc.  I worry about not using hardwood for the strength.

I just recently re-decked our utility trailer. The original planking was standard 2" lumber (don't know what species). It lasted for at least a decade before it started to come apart.

I replaced it with 2x pressure treated doug fir (2x6 and 2x8 to fit the available spaces). After re-decking it, I double-coated it with wood preservative/sealer. Came out pretty nice.

Need to redeck the wood on my lowboy trailer.
My HDD almost fell through it last night.

Was thinking of using pressure treated soft wood.

Love to find some oak.  But I see that there is a wood called apitong that many swear by.

Soft wood might be too weak.  Not sure what was there originally, perhaps oak.
Have not found 3” oak planks anywhere.  I have found 3” apitong.

Any comments would be appreciated.
