I don't know. Several years ago AT&T put a CNG field turbine generator
downtown. It had a compressor in front of it to do the compression.  The
first time it came on and ran long enough to empty the CNG tank the
compressor kicked on. When it kicked on the compressor sucked all the gas
out of the mains in the entire downtown area.

Maybe something similar happened. Seems unlikely though with the large
area.
