I think we had one WebTV user get a PC and connect to the Internet through us
when WebTV shut down.

I also remember at least one customer with a “computer for seniors”, the
closest I can find with a Google search is www.mywowcomputer.com
<http://www.mywowcomputer.com> maybe that’s it. Honestly they seem to have
all the features right, the only downsides being it is not mobile like the
Grandpad, and it costs around $1100. Certainly a more appealing name. Looking
at this page: https://www.mywowcomputer.com/faqs.aspx I have to grudgingly
admit they have done a very good job of understanding the needs and checking
all the boxes, at least for a desktop unit. For a mobile device, most seniors
I run into are happy with an iPad, although even with iOS, smartphones seem to
rely too much on knowing what magic sequence is needed to accomplish some task,
they are not as intuitive as they would have you believe.

I remember WebTV. I seem to also remember a device that would POP your email
account and print the messages. I imagine it couldn't send anything.

The only demeaning thing about GrandPad might be the name. They didn't call
WebTV "GrandDads's TV Web".

There's a big audience of seniors who are not good with technology and would be

A long time ago, my relatives bought a WebTV box and internet subscription for
my grandma to try to get her online... Altogether must've cost close to $1K.
I'm not sure that it had ever ended up being used or even turned on before we
removed it.

Saw this advertised on TV (by Consumer Cellular). Am I just being grouchy, or
is this thing demeaning to seniors?
