Yes, sectors often have wider horizontal beam than vertical, but also they may
have null fill and/or electrical downtilt. The published patterns for this
antenna show virtually no sidelobes or nulls (which I find strange) so the term
null fill would not apply, plus the relatively wide vertical pattern maybe
makes any concern about coverage close to the AP irrelevant. So this would be
similar to the “symmetrical” horns that have gained some popularity. I guess
you could also consider using a dual slant yagi at the AP, although the panel
might be less susceptible to icing. Usually at 900 MHz with only 26 MHz of
spectrum available we are looking for wider sectors on the order of 90, 120 or
180 degrees. Well, OK, with all the smartgrid interference, we are taking down
our 900 MHz.

An antenna is an antenna. If TV antennas were 50 ohms, they would make great
TV White Space antennas for example.

The only difference from sectors is that these antennas have a higher vertical
beam pattern.

Subject: [AFMUG] KP 900mhz flatpanel as 450i AP antenna

Anyone using this antenna for a 450-900mhz AP antenna instead of the giant
sector? Have a couple towers that can't take the wind load and looking for
alternatives just wondering if anyone else has tried it.
