Yeah, panels are typically going to have the same (or at least similar) vertical and horizontal beam widths... especially when they're slant polarized, so they do have some similarities to the symmetrical horns in that regard, but the biggest advantages of the horns (in my opinion) are F/B ratio and nice clean patterns, which panels don't tend to be that good at... although, these panels are pretty nice if the published patterns are anywhere near accurate.
Panels are definitely a lot less susceptible to icing than yagis... the PTP450 link that we have these KPP panels on replaced a Ubiquiti 900mhz link with yagis on it - those things would ice up (and the link would become unusable) a couple of times almost every winter, but it hasn't been a problem at all with the panels.
